Ollie Community Standards
Ollie is a special community that empowers young adults to do more, and as a result, be more. We are made up of students, parents, and non-profits committed to youth achievement and success. A fundamental part of our mission is to bring people together in safe and rewarding ways. To do this effectively, we have these Community Standards that we take very seriously.
It is our hope that Ollie members and supporters abide by these standards to help ensure a positive experience for everyone who joins our community. When problems arise, we encourage you to act by using our Report Abuse system, which is located throughout the site. Ollie is a powerful place because of the people who make success possible, and to be effective, we must work together to defend and promote our resolute Community Standards.
Ollie’s Five Guiding Community Principles
- Be compassionate. Kindness matters, always.
- Be respectful. Disagreement is no excuse for bad behavior.
- Be courteous. Ollie is a place to be neighborly, even if it’s online.
- Be empathetic. Life can be hard sometimes. Try to see it from their perspective.
- Be a champion. Build yourself up and help others do the same.
Personal Information
We strongly encourage you to protect your personal information. We sometimes use automated tools and other techniques to help comply with legal requirements concerning your personal information. Remember, you are never allowed to share personal information of others. Personal information includes:
o Full name;
o Email address or login;
o Password;
o Home or other address;
o Telephone number;
o Social security, passport, or national identity number; and/or,
o Other personally identifiable information.
Harassment and Cyberbullying
Bullying describes many different behaviors that are in some way intended to intimidate or demean someone else. Ollie does not tolerate bullying because it’s wrong and we want our members to feel safe and respected. We will remove any reported content that purposefully targets people with the intention of degrading or shaming them.
Examples of bullying include comments or actions meant to:
o Stalk, intimidate, hurt, attack, abuse, or humiliate someone (or something that a person may care about). This includes using or encouraging the use of profanity (swearing);
o Reveal someone’s personal information;
o Sexualize someone or something, which would include sexual harassment and sexual bullying in any form;
o Harass or single out anyone (or something that a person cares about) for ridicule, abuse, malicious attack, or something similar; or
o Incite others to do anything listed above.
We recognize that bullying can be especially harmful to minors who are typically more vulnerable and susceptible to online bullying. As such, Ollie has implemented the following in an effort to limit the ability for users to publicly bully or shame minors.
- Ollie does not allow comments or posts on Users’ Profiles.
- Reviews are based on a 1-5 star rating, with no ability to add comments.
- Parents are able (and encouraged!) to review their teen’s chat room. Both teens and parents have the ability to report all behaviors that are not in the spirit of our Community Standards.
Hate Speech or Actions
Ollie is a platform of inclusion. We do not allow members to engage in any type of discriminatory speech or actions, based on any of the following:
o Race or ethnic origin;
o National origin;
o Religion or religious affiliation;
o Disability or disease;
o Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation;
o Age; and/or,
o Beliefs.
Impersonation and Defamation
Ollie is built on trusted relationships between real, authentic people. Ollie does not allow users to impersonate or defame someone else. At no time may users assume any of the following for their own personal use:
o Name or username;
o Position in a company;
o Digital representation;
o A post or comment; and/or,
o Personal information.
Online Dating
Ollie is a social networking platform that connects teens and adults to create opportunities. Ollie is a safe place to meet people, chat, find jobs, volunteer, and do more in the community. Ollie is NOT a place to look for dating partners.
Sexual or Violent Content
We do not allow content that sexually exploits or endangers children. When we become aware of apparent child exploitation, we will report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), in compliance with applicable law. Ollie does not allow sexual content or acts, sexual violence, or exploitation of any kind or violence. This includes such content regardless of whether nudity is involved or whether the content can be considered pornographic or explicit.
Dangerous, Unethical, and Illegal Activities
Ollie neither allows any form of such activities, nor does Ollie allow members to discuss activities relating to any of the following on our platform:
o Hacking, phishing, flaming, exploits, cheating, spam, deceptive practices, scams;
o Misleading, sexual or racy thumbnails, or other images, videos, or text;
o Gambling;
o Terrorism, Nazism or Neo Nazism, organized criminal activity, gangs or gang violence;
o Instructions for engaging in violent activities, including bomb- or weapon-making;
o Criminal activity;
o Illegal drugs or prescription drugs without a prescription;
o The use or sale of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco by minors; and/or,
o Blackmail or extortion.
Discrimination
We unequivocally honor diversity in age, gender, gender identity or expression, culture, ethnicity, language, national origin, political beliefs, profession, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and technical ability. We will not tolerate discrimination based on any of the protected characteristics above, including participants with disabilities.
Other activities
The rules listed above are all designed to protect our members. This list is not meant to be exhaustive, but to serve as the bar for the type of community we value and want to share with others.
Consequences and Violations
The type and degree of action that we take for violations of these community standards is judged according to our sole discretion on a case-by-case basis. We weigh the type of violation and whether you are a repeat offender among other factors. You should understand the following:
o Certain minor violations will result in a warning or temporary ban.
o More serious violations will result in a permanent ban.
o We actively work with law enforcement agencies throughout the world, and regularly report illegal activity, threats to others, threats of self-harm, and other illicit or inappropriate behaviors.
o The account holder is responsible for all violations that occur on their account. Never give your password to anyone else, unless you are a minor, in which case you should share your password only with your legal guardian.
